I am a multidisciplinary artist-teacher from Colchester, but primarily I am a painter. I studied art at degree level in Canterbury, and after a long career in education, I came back to art professionally. My day-to-day is spent preparing and delivering art workshops freelance for art organisations, such as the award-winning Firstsite, The Art Harbour (a CIC that I helped establish), The Paint Club, and when I get time, making art.
I have taken part in numerous group and collaborative exhibitions, been published in various anthologies, magazines and books, and have had at least one solo show a year since 2021. I also write regularly in Substack, which is where you can find my newsletter and articles about art, as well as my poetry. My book of poems, Broken Notes, is available to buy from Amazon.
My work is strongly rooted within the energy found in the environment, and the work I produce captures moments which are atmospheric, ethereal or unusual. The work invites the viewer to pause, connect with and uncover the story of a piece told through the use of colour, rhythm, symbolism and softness.
